    Dr. Lieberman is professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and director of the Institute of Orthopaedics at the Keck Medical Center of USC. He is also the President of USC Care. Dr. Lieberman is internationally recognized for his expertise in primary and revision total hip and knee replacement and treatment of osteonecrosis (bone death) of the hip and knee. He is interested in improving outcomes after total hip and knee replacement, the use of pain protocols and aggressive PT to speed recovery after surgery and preventing blood clots after total joint replacement surgery. Dr. Lieberman is also studying the influence of spirituality on the results of total joint replacement.

    Named one of the Outstanding Total Hip and Knee Orthopaedic Surgeons by Becker’s Orthopaedic and Spine Review, Dr. Lieberman has also been named to the Best Doctors in America list and Super Doctors of Southern California. A member of the Hip Society, Knee Society and International Hip Society, Dr. Lieberman also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and he was President of AAHKS from 2015-2016. He has co-edited two books for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons on surgical techniques related to total hip and knee arthroplasty. He co-edited the textbook Surgery of the Hip and he was the inaugural editor of the highly popular review text AAOS Comprehensive Orthopaedic Review. He has published more than 200 manuscripts, book chapters, reviews and abstracts.

    Dr. Lieberman has won numerous awards including the Frank Stinchfield Hip Society Award; the Marshall Urist Award in recognition of his contribution to the field of tissue engineering; and the prestigious Elizabeth Winston Lanier Award for his pioneering work related to the development of regional gene therapy to enhance bone repair. Dr. Lieberman received his medical degree from the Albany Medical College of Union University and completed his fellowship training in total joint replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
