Dr. Salem is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy and Co-Director of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Laboratory (MBRL). Within MBRL, he directs the Exercise and Aging Biomechanics research program. This program recognizes the growing importance of exercise and activity interventions in improving health and life-quality across the lifespan. Investigations are designed to: 1) quantify the musculoskeletal loading and neuromuscular recruitment patterns associated with functional activities and exercise; 2) examine the influence of exercise prescription on muscle dynamics, tissue adaptation, neural control, and physical performance; and 3) examine the feasibility, efficacy, and mechanisms-of-action associated with the integration of complementary and alternative modalities (CAM) (e.g. yoga, meditation, guided imagery) with traditional rehabilitation therapy. Study participants include children, younger & older adults, elite athletes, and patients with neurological disease.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
