Dr. Oghalai is the Department Chair of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at USC. He has followed a clinician-scientist pathway, both caring for patients and performing research in the lab. His clinical areas of focus are skull base surgery, chronic ear disease and cochlear implantation. His NIH-funded lab seeks to better understand the fundamental changes within the inner ear that underlie progressive hearing loss and to develop novel techniques to treat this problem before it worsens.
