Dr. Baydur's clinical interests include respiratory disorders (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, asthma), neuromuscular diseases with breathing problems and pulmonary rehabilitation. His research interests include respiratory mechanics, control of ventilation and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Dr. Baydur worked in the Chest Medicine Service department at the prestigious Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center from 1975 to 1995. For his last five years at Rancho Los Amigos, Dr. Baydur held the position of Chief of Service. In addition to his numerous academic and administrative positions, Dr. Baydur has written approximately 70 publications in respiratory physiology and clinical respiratory medicine for various medical journals and clinical textbooks.
