Meggan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience in community mental health, correctional health, outreach, and mobile engagement. Her work in the community of Skid Row emphasized person-centered recovery for transitional age youth (TAY), adults, and older adults experiencing serious mental illness and substance use disorders. She also played a key role in ensuring compliance with the Department of Justice (DOJ) Consent Decree for LA County Jails, focusing on provisions related to self-directed violence.
Meggan earned her Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) from Tulane University. Her research interests include harm reduction, stigma, chronic homelessness, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and psychedelic-assisted treatment.

Outside of her professional work, Meggan has an interest in history, cosmology, and the ways artificial intelligence is shaping how we explore ideas, reflect, and make sense of the world.
Meggan is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in the Republic of Moldova from 2005 to 2007 with a focus on health education.
