    Holly Muir, MD, earned her medical doctorate from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she also completed her residency training in anesthesia. Following her residency, she matriculated to University of Pennsylvania to pursue a fellowship in obstetric anesthesia and then returned to Halifax where she served on the faculty at Dalhousie. There, she served as the residency program director, the provincial QI director for anesthesia and the chief of the obstetrics service for the IWK Hospital. She was recruited to the Duke University School of Medicine in 1998 to serve as chief of the Division of Women’s Anesthesia. In 2003, she was invited to serve as the vice chair of clinical operations and medical director of perioperative services.

    In January 2017, Muir was named chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
