    Sophie Terp, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and a Quintiles Clinical Fellow at the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. After completing an undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, she received her MD and MPH from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed residency training in emergency medicine at Ronald Reagan UCLA and Olive View-UCLA Medical Centers, and a research fellowship at the University of Southern California. She has spent the majority of her clinical career working in Los Angeles County Safety-net hospitals. Her primary research area of interest is access to emergency care for vulnerable patients, with a focus on enforcement of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
