Naomie De La Cruz Novelo, DMSc, PA-C, is a dedicated healthcare professional with more than two decades devoted to the art of medicine and teaching the next generation of physician assistants. Naomie holds a Doctor of Medical Science degree from the University of Lynchburg, a Master of Physician Assistant Practice from the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of California, Riverside.

Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Novelo’s passion and dedication to health started young. As soon as she was old enough, she volunteered at community clinics focused on patient education related to STI prevention and birth control. This dedication has only grown with her career, where she spent most of her clinical experience in Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHCs), where she provided high-quality care and access to all patients who were often uninsured, underserved and at risk.

Before returning home to the Primary Care Physician Assistant Program as the Director of Clinical Education in 2024, she was core as an instructional faculty member who developed and delivered the women’s health module. Given her passion for teaching and women’s health, she also served as faculty at Chapman University PA Studies Program, where she taught the reproductive health module and oversaw clinical year students on their women’s health rotation.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Novelo works as a PA at a private practice in Rialto, providing obstetrical care and performing gynecologic examinations and procedures. Her responsibilities have ranged from surgical first assist to providing comprehensive medical care, demonstrating her versatility and proficiency in the field.

She also held the role of Clinical Quality Program Manager with a national health plan, where she led quality improvement initiatives and ensured compliance with regulatory standards. Dr. Novelo’s experience spans clinical, administrative, leadership, and academic roles.

Outside of her professional career, she lives in Chino Hills with her husband, their four children and two huskies. She loves to travel and is actively involved in her church, Iglesia Ni Cristo/Church of Christ, helping to organize community service outreach efforts including providing free care kits to those in need.
