    Dr. Brian Kim is a transplant hepatologist specializing in the treatment of patients with acute and chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Dr. Kim is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology. He is an active member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) where he serves as a member of the AASLD Maintenance of Certification Committee. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and serves on the ACG Training Committee. He is an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Governance Member and serves on the ABIM Gastroenterology Approval Committee.

    Dr. Kim’s clinical research interests include liver transplantation, living donor liver transplantation, cardiac diseases in liver patients, and complications of portal hypertension. He has authored numerous chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals on various topics in liver disease, liver transplantation, and education.

    He currently serves as the Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at USC and also serves as the chair of the USC Keck School of Medicine GI/Liver Course.

    He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from Yale University. He received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Columbia University New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He then completed gastroenterology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and transplant hepatology fellowship training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
