    Tom Z. Liang, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, specializing in gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreaticobiliary diseases. He is passionate about USC’s mission and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s needs. His clinical and research interests focus on gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreaticobiliary pathology, with a particular emphasis on neoplastic and pre-neoplastic conditions such as pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, Barrett’s esophagus, and inflammatory bowel disease.

    Dr. Liang earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC, followed by a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at USC, where he served as a Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in oncologic surgical pathology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he also served as a Chief Fellow. He further pursued sub-specialized fellowship training in gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary pathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as a clinical instructor.

    Dr. Liang has been recognized with several teaching and professional awards, including the MD Anderson Excellence in Research Award, the Ann Eastland Spears Fellowship in Pancreatic Cancer Research Award, the Johns Hopkins Fellow Teaching Award, and the Outstanding Clinical Pathology Resident Award.

    Dr. Liang is committed to providing the most accurate and up-to-date diagnoses by staying actively engaged with the latest scientific literature and advances in his field. He regularly participates in multidisciplinary conferences and is passionate about medical education, dedicating himself to training the next generation of medical students, residents, and fellows while always prioritizing the highest standards of patient care.
