Nisha Shah, MD, graduated from the accelerated BS/MD program, the Honors Program in Medicine, at the University of Miami School of Medicine, with a major in biology. During medical school, she served as editor-in-chief of the student-run Medical International Baccalaureate research magazine. Shah completed her internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. Shah’s current academic interest is the role of hormones on the cornea’s structural integrity. Her research led to the publication of several book chapters and peer-reviewed journals including Ophthalmology and Journal of Refractive Surgery, as well as presentations at various national conferences. She enjoys traveling and has participated in medical mission trips to Nicaragua and India. Shah’s hobbies include tennis, running and Indian dance choreography.
