      Dr. Ghiassi is an orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Keck Medical Center of USC. Dr. Ghiassi is the Chief of Hand and Upper Extremity Service at USC-LAC Medical Center. His practice has an emphasis on hand and upper extremity injuries with a special interest in complex wrist and hand trauma. He sees patients with a variety of complex hand and upper extremity conditions at one of the few level 1 trauma centers in Southern California, while also maintaining a community based practice at the USC Westwood Hand Center.

      Dr. Ghiassi graduated high school in Sherman Oaks California and attended University of California at San Diego for his undergraduate studies. While obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in bio-medical engineering and volunteering at Scripss Memorial Hospital, he dis-covered his passion for medicine. He attended USC-Keck School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic internship and residency at USC-LAC Medical Center. He subsequently pursued a hand and micro-vascular surgery fellowship at UCLA Medical Center.

      In 2000 he joined the UCLA faculty and started his teaching career at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center in West Los Angeles. In 2008 he had the unique opportunity to become part of the USC Orthopedic Faculty and Co-director of the Boyes Hand Fellowship program. He has been an active Member of Amercian Society for Surgery of the Hand and is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery. Dr. Ghiassi is also very active in clinical and basic science research.
