Mr. Christopher L. Payne serves as President of Multifamily Development at SARES-REGIS Group. Mr. Payne serves as Senior Vice President of Development at Avalonbay Communities Inc. and is responsible for initiating and managing new development activity in the Southern California region. He served as Vice President of Development, Southern California Region of Avalonbay Communities Inc. Since joining AvalonBay in 2000, he has managed five new development opportunities in Southern California totaling 1,050 apartment homes. Prior to AvalonBay, he served as Senior Development Manager for Belmont Corp. His role included managing Belmont’s development interests from entitlements through construction on all Southern California developments. Prior to his employment with Belmont Corp., he served as a Project Manager with Greystone Homes, a subsidiary of Lennar Corp. At Greystone, he was responsible for forward planning and land development for new single-family home communities throughout Southern California. His professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute and the California Building Industry Association. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. Mr. Payne was awarded with honors, a Master of Real Estate Development degree from the University of Southern California in 1996. He was also awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from California State University Fullerton in 1991.
